Organic coagulants are used in a wide variety of municipal and industrial applications. Organic Coagulants are used to enhance the coagulation, flocculation, and removal of impurities in water, many of which require NSF certification for use in potable water systems.
Dew is the world’s leading manufacturer of organic polymers. We offer a wide range of high-quality products and we are continually developing new products and processes for environmentally friendly and cost-effective water treatment.
The most commonly used organic coagulants consist of two primary families of products both referred to as polyamines. These are POLYDADMAC (or POLYDMDAAC) polymers and EPI-POLYAMINES. They are offered in several different molecular weights and solution concentrations. We also offer both of these chemistries in NSF certified products for drinking water (potable) applications. The third category of cationic coagulant, dicyandiamide (DICY POLYMER) is offered for specific industrial applications. All organic coagulants are 100-per-cent cationic charge materials.
Specific polymers are used worldwide in municipalities and industries such as agriculture, oil production, pulp, and paper. We produce hundreds of different types of polymers, engineered to meet each unique customer’s needs.
Use and Benefits in Water Treatment
Water-soluble polymers, polyquatenary amines, polydadmacs, etc. are supplied in easy to use solution forms. They are highly efficient contributors of cationic charge and molecular weight when applied in specific applications. The process of coagulation is made highly efficient by the proper application of chemistry and dosage.
Organic Coagulants are used most efficiently in combination with inorganic coagulants such as polyaluminum chloride and other aluminum and iron salts. Depending on the specific chemistry of the target water, polymer use can vary from as little as 5% of the total coagulant dosage (inorganic + organic) to as much as 100% in cases where total organic use is indicated.
